Next Match

Dila Gori was finally defeated, but holds the window open for the European dream.

The side coached by Georgi Devdariani received the first goal in five official European matches. The defensive lock, which wasn’t understood by Danish and Croatian sides, was broken by a fast counterattack from Rapid Wien at the 42nd minute finished with a hit by Louis Schaub.

The Georgian side didn’t look bad in the game, but missed the fast combinations and attacks they are used to play, somehow the climate conditions and the hour factor played a role in the Georgian player’s fitness.

Nukri Revishvili was again a key player for Dila Gori and didn’t allowed more goals. Still chances to draw were few and both teams left the rest of their power for the returning match to be played on 29th August on the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium.

A victory on aggregate would give the qualification ticket to the Europe League Group Stage to Dila Gori, and would be a hit in the Georgian football history, becoming in the second team – beyond Dinamo Tbilisi – in qualifying to the last stages. For this Dila Gori will have to fight strong because Rapid Wien looked much better and organized than AaB Aalborg and Hajduk Split.
