Three Georgian clubs will represent the country in the upcoming Europa League 2013-2014 edition.

The first qualified to the continental tournament is Dila Gori after an impressive campaign in Georgia where they reached and finished the league on the second spot of the main table. The team based on Georgian former legionary players and some promising young stars was fighting for the championship until the last dates.

The team based on the city of Gori, represented Georgia in the last Europa League 2012-13 and made a few surprising appearances . As Georgian Cup winners of 2011-12 they started the continental tournament from the Second Qualifying Round and managed to knock out the well known Danish team AGF Aarhus winning straight, 3-1 in Georgia and 2-1 in Denmark. In the next round they faced the Cypriot Anorthosis Famagusta and gained and historic away 0-3 to finally qualify to the Play Offs with a 3-1 on aggregate. There they faced a well organized Portuguese CS Maritimo and were knocked 0-3 on global.

This season, despite the transfer outs, Dila Gori seems to be the second strongest team of the country on the international level.

The other club to represent the country is Torpedo Kutaisi, the team coached by Georgi Geguchadze managed to hold the third spot of the local league and qualified to the First Qualifying Round of the upcoming Europa League. The last year the team of Kutaisi started the continental campaign from the same round and was knocked out instantly by the Kazakh Aktobe.

Torpedo had an interesting campaign but after the end of it, many players – along with the coach Geguchadze – left the team, so would be fair to say that they’re faith is quite unpredictable despite the trust and loyalty of they’re fans.

The last team of the country in this tournament will be Chikhura Sachkhere, maybe the Georgian Cinderella, the team is based in the Western Georgian City of Sachkhere, homeland of the actual Prime Minister of the country, and they reached the Georgian Umaglesi Liga the last season.

Chikhura Sachkhere was competitive during the whole season, but they gained the honor of participating in the intercontinental tournament because they we finalists of the Georgian Cup. They lost the final and that’s why they’re going to start the Europa League from the First Qualifying Round. This is going to be the official international debut of the team.

All Georgian clubs will know they’re rivals after the official UEFA draw in Nyon, on 24th June.
